Howdy from Hound Dog Hoover

This is the post excerpt.

Hound Dog Hoover here — owner of a soon-to-open record store in Kingston Springs, Tenn., and a recovering journalist who made it out of the Beltway before the big meltdown.

My new mission is to sell records — good stuff. Yeah, classic rock, but also lots of American roots music: from blues to bluegrass, country to rockabilly. Merle Haggard is honored here. (Get ’em Sturgill!)

I’ll also report on what I see and hear as I try to break through in Music City, starting with the Americana Music Association’s festival and conference later this month. (Made a rookie mistake and didn’t answer an email quick enough to make it on the list to attend a private album release party for Dawes at the Basement East.)

And the store? Should open Oct. 1 in the Community Bank building at the top of the hill just off the Kingston Springs exit of I-4o. Still waiting to get in the space.

Also, I’ll be selling records Oct. 9 at the Music City Record Collector’s Convention at the Music Valley Event Center on Music Valley Drive near Opryland. Turns out there’s another record show in Nashville that day as well. Yep, I’m in Music City!

So don’t leave town, Sturgill. I just got here.
